Fourteen centuries ago on the plains of Karbala, the martyrdom of Husayn, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, his family members and his loyal companions took place. It was a calamity of such cosmic proportions that all other tragedies in human history pale in comparison to it.

This book focuses on the principles of religion which are relevant to the thought and soul of human beings, reason and intellect follow it, and deeds and movement of human beings spring forth from its fountainhead accordingly.

“Does this world have a Creator and God or has it been created by itself without any cause? If there is a God then what are His attributes and works? Does God assign an obligation for us, or are we not without some from of responsibility? Were the divine messengers truthful in their claims or not? Is it possible that after this world there exists another world whereby a human being would see reward or punishment for his/her deeds? The human faculty of reason in accordance with his primitive nature and special creation desires to find out about these realities, remove curtains from mysteries, provide correct answers to these inquiries and many more alike. It certainly possesses this distinction where it can distinguish between the truth and falsehood, naturally is inclined to discover the realities, causes of things, and until it rests upon an absolute certainlyit does not feel comfortable.”

The chapter’s eschatological themes include vivid descriptions of resurrection and divine recompense. He reflects on the Qur’ānic view of human life as a journey shaped by actions and decisions, underscoring the significance of faith and righteous deeds. In Sūrah al-Aḥzāb, the commentary addresses societal challenges and the ethical responsibilities of the nascent Muslim community in Medina. ʿAllāmah discusses the rules and expectations for the Prophet’s household, the Battle of Khandaq, and the importance of unity and discipline in the face of external threats. This chapter emphasizes the virtues of modesty, respect, and the centrality of the Prophet’s leadership. ʿAllāmah provides an in-depth analysis of the verse of purification (āyah al-taṭhīr, 33:33) and the divine blessings upon the Prophet’s household. The commentary on Sūrah Sabaʼ highlights the interplay between human actions and divine blessings. The chapter recounts the story of the people of Sabaʼ, who fell into disobedience despite their prosperity, resulting in their downfall. ʿAllāmah reflects on the lessons drawn from this narrative, emphasizing gratitude, humility, and the transient nature of worldly power. The chapter also discusses the unique gifts bestowed upon Prophets Dāwūd and Sulaymān, illustrating the ethical use of power and knowledge in service to God.
